Time Window

If you are going off the traditional ideas about photography it is necessary to recontextualize your work in order to make it readable again. The book is and was one of my foremost playgrounds to make photography work. Other than the most disciplines of art, photography works quite well in state of reproduction. The question of originality is different with a medium, wich was inventet to be reproduceable. So photography works very well in the tiny space of a book. The book was my foremost idea to contextualise all different layers of information, like adverts to a whole new compound. In these days the art world and its representation was one of the last spaces which was completely free from the common advertisements. With this project I did use the correlation of such complentary layers to reinforce the artistic statement. For the web I have additionally developed in 1999 a multimedia flash film to get the different layers work into a fluid film sequence (for those who might be able to play flash today): timewindow

Here to be seen is the 2024 edition of the book TimeWindow, which was originale completed in the year 2000 as artist book in an edition of 10 copies, printed with dye ink jet and handbound. The 2024 digitale printed edition is made in numerous copies. The biggest problem today was to find spine spirals in silver nickel finish in Europe, corresponding to the modernist editions of such publications from the 1920ties. As well a wooden dust case as presentation box been made in respect to Alexander Rodtschenko, who used such cases for printed editions around 1925.
